Overnight Security/Property Attendant - Jacksonville West
Shift: Wednesday - Sunday (12:00 am - 6:00 am)

Position Summary:

The Overnight Security/Property Attendant helps maintain a safe environment. The Overnight Security/Property Attendant is an after-hours contact for any issues that may arise, performs property clean up, and serves as a safety patrol. The Overnight Security/Property Attendant shall be experienced in monitoring high-risk populations in a hotel facility setting. S/he will ensure sufficient and appropriate security services to ensure the safety of the guests, staff, and visitors. S/he ensures that all occupants conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. The Property Attendant/Security Guard routinely tours the facility.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to: monitoring occupant whereabouts; signing visitors into and out of the hotel; conducting security screens of guests, visitors and staff; answering phones; supervising occupants throughout the facility and surrounding areas; promoting appropriate safety precautions; maintaining a clean and professional working environment; documenting and notifying of guest emergencies, illnesses, and violations and adhering to facility emergency procedures. Must observe and report on safety hazards in the facility. Must implement appropriate safety measures, including fire safety training for staff and residents. Security personnel will liaise with local law enforcement and emergency personnel as required. 

Compensation: Starts at $18

I. Essential Functions:

  • Patrols the property by foot when the office is closed.
  • Reports any safety or security issues to the General Manager, or local authorities/emergency service providers. .
  • Respond to guest needs, complaints, and/or concerns in a professional and courteous manner. .
  • Establish good communication and professional relationships with property guests.
  • Ensure that all storage and employee areas are secured nightly.
  • Obtain guest list nightly to ensure that only authorized guests are allowed access to rooms and the property.
  • Obtain a Vacant Room Report to ensure all vacant rooms are secured nightly.
  • Call GM immediately regarding any safety, security issues, or with urgent questions/concerns. 
  • Follow company procedures by verifying ID and provide access to rooms for guests who become locked out.
  • Assist guests with minor maintenance issues. 
  • Document any incidents.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that property is always clean and free of any trash and debris 
  • Represent the property in a professionally and courteously 
  • Check guests in and out in a timely and efficient manner 

II. Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education:

  • Ability to read, speak, write in an efficient manner in order to interact with guests and staff.
  • Flexible availability. 
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to self-supervise and work with limited supervision.

III. Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • Previous security experience or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • High school diploma preferred 

IV. Mental and Physical Demands:

Physical Demands:

  • Indoor work with hard and carpeted surfaces.
  • Work on uneven surfaces in hot, cold, and wet conditions, climb and stand on ladders at heights of up to approximately 30 feet.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and/or crawling throughout the shift.
  • Lifting and carrying over 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. 
  • Ability to reach with arms outstretched or overhead.
